Happy Anniversary

EXPO TIME....AGAIN!

It's that wonderful time of year again.....Scrapbooking Expo Time!

Last weekend was the scrapbooking expo in SLC, so I made a trip down to scrapbook with my mom and my sisters. We partied from 7am-1am and were all spent by the time we got home.

I got tons of awesome deals on supplies, paper, BAGS, and tools. I took in an empty bag in the morning just so I would have something to haul all of my stuff out later that night! ( I will have to take a picture of all my new toys and post it so you can understand my excitement more fully).

Oh....so much fun, I can't wait for next time!

p.s. Don't worry....Brock had his fun too, he spent the weekend on the Salmon River in Idaho with his friend Casey.

Day Trip to Mammoth

Once again, we had a super random weekend here in Monataner. (last weekend, the 7th) Brock and I decided we were sick and tired of LAME weekends, so we decided that we needed to do something outside. Early Saturday morning we decided to make a day trip into Yellowstone to Cross Country Ski. We got all our "crap" together and picked up our friend Conor on the way out of town and headed for a day of skiing around the park.

Sounds good, right?.......Well, if you know my husband at all you know that he doesn't plan very well and "flies by the seat of his pants". (that's what my mom always says about the way we do things...hahah) Anyway, we get to Gardiner, (which is the town right outside the park), to rent our gear and the shop was closed for the day. Brock was shock and annoyed but I wasn't too shocked because after all.... it is kinda the off season for the town.

So we realized that there would be NO skiing around the park, but we figured we had made the drive and to make the most of it. So, we headed into the park and walked some trails around Mammoth and drove around in search for animals. Of course we saw lots of Buffalo, Elk, and Coyotes. It was fun and nice to get out but it was a lot of driving for one day.

I guess it wasn't completely lame, but a little lamish that we couldn't ski.

Mammoth Hot SpringsConorOkay, so this might sound really weird but one of my MOST favorite things to look at in Yellowstone is the bacterias that grow in the geysers and springs. They look so neat! Brock teases me and made me take a picture by them, so yeah that's what I'm doing.

Here's a close up on what I was looking at, maybe you can appreciate it too? I thought it was neat that some of it was frozen.

Doesn't this look like something you'd see in a horror film....just imagine it dark and you hear footsteps behind you on the boardwalk. Ohhhh...how spooky, I'm freaking myself out!

Good Thoughts

Explosion in Downtown Bozeman

We had an explosion here in Downtown Bozeman this morning at a local restaurant/bar (Boodles). People that I know who work nearby said that they felt the force of the explosion at their workplaces. Many surrounding buildings and parked vehicles had their windows blown out by the force.

They think the explosion was caused by a gas leak. Which after the explosions cause a few fires in neighboring business. They say 5 business and a complete block of downtown Bozeman has been destroyed.

I'm unsure if there was any injuries or deaths, they haven't been able to get into the building or go through the ruble due to the fires. I think they've said 1 person is missing, I guess we'll find out more soon.

It's such a sad thing to have happen but it's kinda a blessing that it happened early in the morning before many business were open. (less traffic and less people around)

Valentine's Weekend

I know I'm a little behind schedule but I still wanted to post about what we did over Valentine's.

My friend Allyson came to visit for the weekend and she brought her sister and a friend along. They came up from Utah to visit the Ski Resorts and have a mini get-away over the Presidents Day weekend.

We are glad they made the journey to visit us in our humble abode. It was fun to hang out with Ally-there's nothing like hanging out with your best childhood friend!

Valentine's Day

Brock and I don't usually do much for Valentines, so we just hung out and went for a drive and a causal walk overlooking the valley. (It was freezing so we didn't go on a very long walk) That night we had pizza with Ally and her friends!This is kinda a Freaky picture but I think Brock looks cute so I posted it anyway!Brock takes a lot of pride in his creations for me, here's my Valentines Card that he "Built" for me. I love it, it beats any store bought card with cheesy poems and sayings. HEHEH! (Nice touch with the electrical tape and duct tape combo, awesome).

So tomorrow is my nephew Jake's Farewell in Utah and we are going to miss it. I am so sad that I'm going to miss it but I guess that's the kind of stuff you miss out on when you live forever away!

Jake goes into the MTC on Wednesday this week for 3 weeks and then he'll be on his way to the Dominican Republic for 2 years! It's so weird to think that I'm not going to see him for that long, but it will probably go sooo fast. However, when he gets back my nephews Nick and Damion will be getting ready to go, oh so freaky!

Big Sky Snowboarding Trip

I have the best news ever... my nephew Jake and a couple of his friends came up to spend a couple days with us last week!

I was so excited that they were able to come hang with us before Jake leaves for his mission. (He leaves on Feb. 25th for the Dominican Republic...exciting)

Friday, they went to Bridger Bowl to snowboard while Brock and I were at work. Friday night we went to some nearby hot springs and soaked up some warm water.

Saturday we all went snowboarding up at Big Sky. The drive up the canyon to the resort is so beautiful and we saw a Moosey on the way. We spent the whole day at the Ski Resort and got a lot of runs in and enjoyed the views of the mountains. Big Sky Resort is so nice, I've never been to such a nice resort. However, it is really spendy compared to the other resorts nearby, so we'll probably stick to Bridger!

Saturday night we went out to eat at Old Chicago...YUM, sooo good. We were all exhausted from a long day on the mountain, so after dinner we went home and crashed!

Sunday came all too soon, and it was time for the boys to head home. Jake wanted to head out early to make it home for the Super Bowl. (Steelers Fan) It was hard to see him go, it's the last time I will see him for two whole years. Yikes, it made me cry.

Anyway, I'm glad they came and we had a great time having them here.

This is one of the runs that were more "my size". At the base of the mountain they have these huge nice hotels. Brock says it was like a "Dumb & Dumber Resort", too fancy for us to ever stay there!

Jake, Bo, & Nolan

How would it be?

This is our puppy Boog, as you can tell boog can be a very lazy puppy at times. He's got such a funny personality and we get a real kick out of him.

Boog loves laying in the sunshine to bask in the heat of the day. (that sounds funny because it's freezing here right now). He spends a lot of his time following the sunny spots to lay in around the room.

The other day we had our fireplace on and we didn't know where he'd disappeared to. When we found him, he was on the floor by the fireplace soaking up the heat!

Latest Updates..

Not a lot is going on here with us except for a couple random updates, so here they are.

Brock and I got released from the Sunbeams recently and got new Church callings. We are going to miss our cute little sunbeams but we are excited for a change of pace.

1.Brock has been called to be the 1st Counselor in the Sunday School Presidency and I'm an Activity Day Leader. Neither of us quite know what our roles are going to entail yet, but we are excited.

2.I'm going to be working full time now instead of part time. We had some things change in our office and they offered me the extra hours. I'm excited for the extra money that the hours will provide but I'm also a little nervous about how I'm going to balance everything. (I've been spoiled to only have to work P/T since we've moved).

Gotta Love Montana Style...

I've been meaning to post this picture for a couple months but just haven't gotten around to it until now.

No matter how many times I stop at a stoplight next to a dude on a four wheeler or a dirt bike, I will always have a good laugh.

Yes, I saw this guy and stop on a green right turn light to take this picture. I couldn't pass up the moment again! I'm sure he thought I was a freak and I'm sure I had a bunch of ticked off people stopped behind me....but I didn't care!

Oh and YES....it's completely legal to drive off road vehicles on the streets like cars.

Christmas Vacation

The Christmas Season this year flew by so quickly, I can't believe it's already January! Brock and I left home Christmas Eve and drove down to SLC to spend Christmas with my parents. Before bed on Christmas Eve, we opened our Christmas P.J's (thanks mom & dad), threw Reindeer Dust on the roof and drank hot chocolate.

Christmas morning we opened gifts with my mom & dad and enjoyed the afternoon together. My sister Lynette and I were in charge of our family Christmas party that night at my mom's, so we spent part of Christmas day putting things together for that.

Christmas night we had our party and dinner. We had a Caribbean themed party and dinner. It was so nice to spend the night with my siblings and their families.

We spent the remainder of the weekend in SLC at my parents and enjoyed eating out, shopping and going to the movies. On Sunday morning we headed down to Brock's parents to spend a few days there.

We had their family party and dinner on Sunday. All of Brock's siblings were there with their families (except for one of Brock's brothers) even Shilo and Devin made it from West Virginia!!! We had a super fun time being together as a family.

We drove back to SLC to ring in the New Year! We went out to eat with my parents and my brother Jon and his wife and then went to my brother Mike's for the New Year Celebrations. We stayed up until Mid-Night and watched as fireworks filled the valley.

Thursday we were able to meet up with our old friends Brian & Candice and their cute kiddies. We met up for lunch to catch up with each other, it was a much needed visit!

Friday the 2nd, my Nephew Jake went through the Jordan River Temple for the first time so we were able to be there for that too! After the Temple we packed up and drove to Idaho for Brock's cousin's wedding. It was fun to see a lot of family and friends in Idaho.

We finally pulled into our garage at 12:30am Saturday morning, after being away from home that long we were super excited to be home.

We went through West Yellowstone on our way home and it was covered in tons of snow, we couldn't believe how much snow they have.

We thought it was so funny that people drive around on their snow machines in West Yellowstone, we had to take this picture of this guy getting gas.

Brock's main gift didn't come until after we got home. He was surprised to get some ALE81 all the way from Kentucky!
