Ten Months!

At Ten Months Blakely is such a fun little ball of energy to have in our home. It seems like she keeps us pretty busy all day long and we are all ready for bed at night! It is so fun to see her little personality develop and see her personal preferences start to show through more.
She is a busy little bee and keeps us on our toes. She is constantly on the move and is everywhere and into everything all day. She has become a fast little crawler and can get from "A" to "B" in an instant and is drawn to the "no no" places in the house. (I think she thinks it's a fun game because Mom and Dad come chasing after her. She laughs and spazes when we get to her). She follows us around the house or will go looking for us if we leave the room. Often times she will wander the house whining looking for Dad when he leaves for work in the morning. Or she'll crawl to the front door and cry when he leaves. It's sad but annoying too because I can't console her because she just doesn't want ME! She is also getting very strong and stable when she stands. She moves from one thing to the other pretty independently  and can walk back and forth between mom and dad with just a pinch of help. She can stand for a relatively long time and then she can just sit down or tip over. She loves to have us walk her around the house and will direct us into the path she desires. I really think she just lacks the confidence to walk but I presume it will come over the next several weeks and she will be ready to start taking some unassisted steps.
Along with being super mobile she is super chatty. Seriously...seriously....this baby does not stop with her sweet babbling! It is really the most adorable thing ever! I just absolutely love to listen to her talk and make noise. She has so many different sounds that she makes, she is so creative! She loves to growl, gurgle, suck air in so much that it makes a high pitch squeal, she "sings" lightly, jabbers, grunts and says "mama" and "dada". I love hearing her sweet little voice talking and playing in her crib in the moring, it's precious!
She is sleeping consistently through the night and typically sleeping in until 6-6:30 which is a thousand times better than 5:00am! She is still taking two naps that are typically 1.5-2hours long. So I am feeling A LOT better about my own personal rest these days.
She just had her lower right lateral incisor come in over the last couple weeks and so now she has a grand total of eight teeth! WOWSERS! She doesn't bite...yet... but she probably will have an advantage over all the other babies because she has so many teeth. She hates to have her teeth brushed but that's only because he hasn't developed an appreciation of proper dental care yet.
Food is a big part of Blakely's life at ten months. She loves to eat and drink! Seriously, this baby is a bottomless pit when it comes to food. She is still grubbing on cereal, baby foods, formula and she loves to eat off of our plates. She is eating more and more finger foods and is pretty good at self-feeding. She eats a variety of foods and she loves to try new things. She is 100% weaned, which I'm not too happy about but she basically quit nursing over the last couple days. She has slowly quit wanting to nurse and has even turned me down lately for her morning feedings. I'm a little disappointed because I wanted to nurse until she was one but I guess she decided that she is "too mature" for that.
Blakely has loved the warm weather and really enjoys spending time outside. She loves to crawl on the grass and pick it along with the dandelions. She will crawl to the front door or the back door and whine until we take her outside for a walk or to play. Brock lets her play in the sprinklers and she loves it even though  the water is FREEZING! We've also had fun going on walks, bike rides, hikes and spending time on the slides at the park.
The last ten months have been such a growing experience for all of us. It is so fun to be experience new things as a family. I'm so grateful to be able to spend this time with Blakely and to watch her grow and learn. She is such a bright spot in our family and in my soul.

What baby has been up to lately...

Over the last couple weeks, Blakely, has been able to spend quality time with her friends. Most recently she played with her friend Addy. Addy is two months to the day older than Blakely and it's fun to see them interact. (ok, most of the time they don't acknowledge each other's existence  but when they do interact, it's adorable).
Blakely is tiny (20th% for weight) but when she is with Addy she looks like a tank. Addy is just super teeny and delicate:)

Addy feeding Blakely a french fry.
Blakely was more than happy to let Addy feed her!

Sharing the keys

Fighting over the keys!

Addy was trying to hold Blakely's hand and Blakely kept pulling her hand away.

Stroll by the Madison

In other news, Blakely has been eating everything! This girl must be growing because she eats and eats. She loves trying new foods and eats off of mom and dad's plates every day. She loves everything she tries except peas.
She also loves to feed herself and does so well at it...as you can see!

Recently she played at Bryce and Gabe's place and was treated like royalty! Gabe showered blakely in toys and "bling". It looks like she already has the boys hearts!

She's also had fun playing with Claire and Ella. Ella is so sweet to share toys with Blakely and Claire loves "Blankley" so much that she wishes that Blakely was her sister too. (so sweet) Maybe Claire would change her mind if Blakely was there every day getting into her stuff?

We've also been enjoying the sunshine with the baby. She loves spending time outside in the sun and on the grass. She picks at the grass and sometimes tries to eat it. She loves picking all of our horrible lovely yellow dandelions and she eats them sometimes too. (it's a lot of work being outside sometimes)
We've been on lots of bike rides, hikes and walks. We are loving spring/summer!
(our grass doesn't look this horrible anymore)

Enjoying a hot bottle in the heat!

She loves the little baby park and likes the slide...kinda.

She is a Daddy's Girl 100%!!! She follows him everywhere saying "dadddaada" and she cries when he walks out the door to leave. It's very sweet and tender but annoying too because I can't console her because she doesn't want me!:)
Daddy gave baby her first sucker, tisk tisk, Dad!
It's no wonder she loves him:)
She loves to play and does really well independently...most of the time. She does have to been in view of us or she has a complete meltdown. She likes her toys but she loves to play with anything other than toys more.

Reading scriptures with Dad

She loves the dogs. She tortures the dogs. She is SO entertained by the dogs. Poor Brutus is losing his hair in clumps.

Mother's Day!

My first Mother's Day was pretty awesome! I was such a great day to reflect on the blessing of being a mother and the struggle that proceeded it. I sometimes still can't believe that we have our sweet little girl here to love. I'm so thankful that I'm on this side of things now.
Motherhood has been so great so far and that even includes all of the rough and ugly parts. I have never done anything so hard and yet so instantly rewarding at the same time. I have learned already what pure and unconditional love is all about. I'm also understanding more and more what my mom meant when she said "you'll understand when you have a child of your own".
I've learned that the majority of motherhood is sacrifice, forgiveness and work. I have given up work and money to be a mom and it is rough at times but it's also such a blessing to be here to watch her learn and grow. My days can feel like "groundhog day" but so simple and rewarding at the same time. I feel completely blessed that I can watch and participate in every milestone that Blakely experiences.
I feel such hope and excitement for her future when I think of the wonderful possibilities and achievements ahead of her. I also have deep seeded fear for her future too. I fear for her safety, I worry over the choices she'll make and I hope she will have good people in her life. I'm constantly trying to think about what we need to do as parents to protect her from pain and harm. I know that we can't keep her in a bubble but sometimes I wish we could.
Being parents to our precious girl has been so great to experience together. It has been so fun to get to know a whole new side of Brock and I love and respect him more than ever. He is the awesome Dad that I always knew he'd be.
I'm so thankful for Eternal Families and the blessings that have come to our home since becoming parents. I know that the Lord is watching over us and helping us as we care for this special little spirit he sent us to be stewards over. I pray that we will live up to His expectations.

*This Taylor Swift song totally describes how I feel of my little lovely.

Your little hands wrapped around my finger
And it's so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you're dreaming
So I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light

To you everything's funny
You've got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have honey
If you could stay like that

Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple

I wont let nobody hurt you
Wont let no one break your heart
No one will desert you
Just try to never grow up

Never grow up

You're in the car on the way to the movies
And you're mortified your mom is dropping you off
At 14 there is just so much you cant do
And you cant wait to move out someday and call your own shots

But don't make her drop you off around the block
Remember that she's getting older too
Don't lose the way that you dance around in your pj's getting ready for school

Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple

And no one's every burned you
Nothing's ever left you scarred
And even though you want to
Just try to never grow up

Take pictures in your mind
Of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like
When your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps
Remember the words said
And all your little brother's favorite songs

I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone

So here I am in my new apartment
In a big city, they just dropped me off
It's so much colder than I thought it would be
So I tuck myself in and turn my nightlight on

Wish I'd never grown up
I wish I'd never grown up

Oh I don't wanna grow up
Wish I'd never grown up
Could still be little
Oh I don't wanna grow up
Wish I'd never grown up
It could still be simple

Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple

I won't let nobody hurt you
Won't let no one break your heart
And even though you want to
Please try to never grow up

Don't you ever grow up
Never grow up
Just never grow up

*Brock bought me a digital frame, wrote me a lovely note, had Blakely crinkle a piece of paper and made me a delicious dinner. I was so spoiled:)

My object to practice on

I'm still trying to learn my camera ...I know, I should know it inside out and backwards by now but I just don't have the time. When I actually do get time to mess with it, I use my little miss to shoot and experiment on.
A couple weeks ago, we went for a walk to this pond in our neighborhood to get some fun shots. It was sooo hot that we were both sweaty and a little thirsty. She was pretty entertained with the new surroundings though!

She was crawling funny on the grass.

I think the grass was bugging her!

9 Months pictures

I've been meaning to post these but I've had a hard time getting them edited and up. Blakely was super tricky to take her nine months pictures. We had to do them indoors again since it was yucky weather so it was hard to keep her attention. I would sit her down and by the time I had the camera to my face she was crawling away...it was super frustrating. I am not 100% pleased with them but I guess they clearly document her personality at 9 months. (always on the go with a mind of her own)
