HAPPY EASTER
I love this time of year! I love all of the new life around us from the green grass, blooming flowers and trees, to new baby lambs & baby calves. It makes me happy to see the sunshine and blue skies again as well as the longer warmer days. This time of year always makes me excited to be out planting and working in my yard and garden. I also start counting down to our first hike and camp trip.
Most of all though, I love this time of year to reflect on the blessings that we have through the life of the Savior Jesus Christ. I'm so grateful that because of his Atonement and Resurrection I can be with my loved ones. I'm grateful for this Easter Sunday to think about him and to remember the things that he wants me to be an do. I love the hope that the Savior brings into our lives, that there is always a way through him. Our life and happiness is built around the life of our Savior and his gospel and I know that through him is where we find our greatest joys.
Happy Easter
I remember Elder Holland giving this talk in Conference and it touched me so much. It made me think about the Atonement in such a different way and it still brings tears to my eyes when I hear him talk about the Saviors last days.
We ate all our meals today with some of our best pals. We started our day with a delish Brunch at John & Halsey's house with all the fixings you can imagine. Later for dinner we headed over to the Lennon's for a huge Easter dinner. I basically ate until my eyes popped out of my head, it was wonderful! I'm so grateful that we have good friends who take care of us even though the favor is RARELY returned.
The Easter Bunny popped by our house and dropped off some of our favorite Easter treats!
I love candy in all it's many forms and flavors but I especially love it when it is sold in pastel colors:)
Many of you know (if you didn't know...now you do) that Brock and I were approved for adoption through LDS Family Services last spring. We are super excited to adopt and pray that we can piece our family together through adoption.
We are ready to take on a baby anytime, unfortunately it is not up to us. The Birth parents are the ones who study adoptive couples and then ultimately pick the placement of their infant. We have a profile on LDS Family services which is a great place for birth parents to browse couples but unfortunately it is somewhat limiting on what you can post about yourself.
Okay, so here's my point...we created an Adoption Blog! We felt it would create a better environment for people to learn more about us. It has been a lot of work and really time consuming, but it's finally done. I'm not 100% in love with it but it will do for now. Please take a peek and feel free to add our button (link) to your blog, facebook page or wherever else you think that it would get some traffic. Adoption placement usually comes from "word of mouth" and through acquaintances, so we could use everyone's help. Also, the birth parents do not have to be LDS to work with us. Please keep us in mind if you ever know of a couple looking into adoption.

We just celebrated our 8th (holy cow) Wedding Anniversary! I seriously cannot believe it's been 8 YEARS already...craziness!
Wedding Day Highlights:
-Snow on our SPRING wedding.
-Starving and talking about food on the way to the Temple.
-Stoping at McDonald's to get some food so we could survive the day.
-Getting to the Temple late.
-Both our Mom's frantic faces when we finally arrived.
-Spending time talking in the elevator in the Temple and then realizing we had no idea where they told us to go.
-Getting lost in the Temple together.
-Freezing outside for pictures.
-Being late for pictures at the reception.
-Having that "awkward talk" with my mom & sister.
-Brock having his "awkward talk" with his mom.
-My cake getting knocked over.
-Casey driving us to our hidden car.
-Everyone being upset that we hid our car.
Okay so here are some of the top highlights over the last 8 years:
-Kim learning how to cook full meals for two people.
-Going to college together.
-Taking a Chemistry Class together (not recomended).
-Living in CHICAGO for a summer.
-Learning that you have to mix hot water in with Jell-o for it to set up right.
-Brock teaching Kim how to drive a clutch.
-Buying our first car Jeep together.
-Finding out that liquid dish soap doesn't work like dishwasher liquid soap does in a dishwasher.
-Vacationing like "grown ups".
-Brock Graduating from school & starting his career.
-Buying our first home and then buying our second home 9 months later.
-Learning how to build/manage a yard together: assembling a sprinkling system, building a fence, planting & re-planting trees and planting a garden.
-Living off of $500 a month while going to school. (I still don't know how that worked).
-Making lasting frienships.
-Moving to Montana
-Kai, Boog & Brutus
-Christmas together
-Brock buying a "grown up truck".
-Breakfast at 3:00 am at some random diner "just cuz".
-Sleeping in the back of our Jeep.
-Staying up late and eating junk food because we can.
There are many more hightlights but those are just of the few things that come to mind! We look forward to many more crazy and fun years to come:)
* We didn't do much on our Anniversary because it was a Sunday and I was out of town but Brock surprised me with some pretty flowers. He also finished up some projects around the yard and house for us!

My nephew Jake has finally returned home from hisLDSMission in the Dominican Republic. He severed there for 2 years and came home on March 2nd. We were able to go home a few weeks ago for his homecoming to see him for the first time in over 2 years. I was super excited to see him and visit with him but I literally spent less than 5 minutes with him the whole weekend. He was waaaay too busy hanging out with his friends and the hoards of girls to acknowledge any of his family. I was pretty bummed about it but at least I got to see most of my extended family so that was a bonus.
My brother Marlon & his wife Christy had a huge party after church at there house for friends and family. Here are some pics of the family.
The warm weather gave me spring fever like craaaazy!
I typically don't get into shows until they have been on the air for some time and somebody convinces me it's worth watching. For example, we had a friend bug us over and over again to give The Office a chance so we finally did and we've been hooked since.
In this season of new shows we've found a couple new favorites all on our own so I thought I would share the LOVE.
We have one show we watch on Tuesdays and we pretty much watch the entire Thursday night line up on NBC. That's about it and other than that we watch A LOT of reruns of our favorite sitcoms and A LOT of Basketball.

PERFECT COUPLES
This show is HILARIOUS, we LOVE it! It's about 3 extreme couples that are close friends and their relationships are all soooo different and eccentric. Here is the Wikipedia definition: Perfect Couplesrevolves around three couples at various stages in their relationships, yet who face similar problems. Vance and Amy are a couple who fight a lot and have a very active sex life. Rex and Leigh view themselves as relationship experts and therefore a "perfect couple", while Dave and Julia are considered the normal pair to whom everyone can relate.

Our second NEW favorite is RAISING HOPE. This is our Tuesday night dessert and we look forward to it every week. We were huge "My Name is Earl" fans and enjoyed the white trash comedy. Raising Hope is our new white trash favorite and we think it is HILARIOUS!
This show is about a really dysfunctional family that is able to function even under their strange circumstances. Here's the professional discription: A 23-year-old must raise his infant daughter, conceived by a one-night stand, with the help of his flawed family after the baby's mother (who has killed multiple boyfriends) is given a death sentence and executed when the baby is only six months old.
We spent a really cold and fun weekend with our good pals at Fort Peck Ice Fishing. Brock and John spent most of the time out on the ice and Halsey and I spent time on the ice here and there.
The first day we caught some Pike, which was super fun because neither Brock or I have fished for pike before. The next day we ventured out further on the lake and we were there for HOURS and didn't even have a bite. Oh and did I mention that the guys had like 18 holes going?....yeah, it was really lame fishing that day.
The guys brought an Ice Hut for me and Halsey to hang out in and we were FA-REEEEZING even with the mini heater going. Neither of us could feel our feet by the time we got back to our rooms, I even had the onset of frostbite on my little toe! OUCH!!!
It was a memorable trip to say the least and we had a great time despite the cold and spotty fishing.
We stayed in a motel built for stinky MEN!
Halsey and I could NOT stop laughing when we first arrived because of the decor in the rooms. Also, I have never stayed in a room where is specifically asks you NOT to clean your fish in your room. Oh, and the drying hangers over the heater where pretty classy too.
We totally added to the "REDNECK-NESS" on the lake by pulling each other around the lake on Brock's Drift Boat trailer behind the 4 Wheeler. Yeah, it was ridiculous.
Brock and I have made a goal to make it to the Temple every month this year so a couple weekends ago we made the 2hr trip to the Billings Temple. After the Temple we did some quick shopping and got Brock a new suit and me some new running shoes. We also enjoyed a yummy meal at the Olive Garden.
After dinner we headed to Gardiner to spend the night for a weekend of Cross Country Skiing. Saturday morning we woke up and drove through the park to look at the animals. In the afternoon we made our trek to Tower Falls on our skies.
It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun skiing. It was a 5 mile round trip and a really great work out. When we got to the bottom there was a lone Buffalo at the bottom of the trail blocking our way. I was waaay too freaked out to ski past him. We had to wait awhile for him to move so we could pass.
We were planning on sitting in the Boiling River after but it was waaaay tooo cold for that, so we just headed home.
The other day Brock brought this home and placed it in our office with out telling me about it. He was just waiting for me to find it on my own. One morning I went in there and flipped on the light to find this dead fish starring at me. Brock wanted to freak surprise me with my fish I caught on my fly rod a year previous. It startled me so much that I let out a yelp and he knew what I had just found.
A couple years ago I caught this HUGE fish on my fly rod and apparently Brock kept it and had it mounted. He says that he told me about his plans to do that but I have no memory of it. So here is my awesome fish that has found his new home in mine.

HOLY COW! I received a text last Wednesday to notify me that another "Jazz Man" bit the dust. I was shocked to hear that Deron was traded by the Jazz. My first thought that he must have asked to leave after all the Jerry drama but nope they ditched the All- Star. However, it turns out that Deron himself had no idea that there was a trade in the air.
I admit that I've been upset with the whole "Deron and Jerry" thing that happened a few weeks ago and I was disappointed with Deron. I am however saddened to see him go and lose his talent. I also see the stance that the Utah Jazz organization felt like they needed to take. I agree with them that Deron probably would have left once his contract was up and I think his attitude was a cancer to the team. This trade seems to make business sense and will take care of our future as a team. I do think that Jerry leaving was the"straw that broke the camels back" and forced the trade. I do however disagree with the way that the trade was done and think that it shows a lack of class to just boot your All-Star with no notice. Even though Deron has had an obvious bad attitude this season, he has done great things for the Utah Jazz and deserved a "heads up" on the trade. I guess that's business in the NBA though...right?
February has been a rough month for me as a Jazz fan and I look forward to a "clean slate" with March. I am sad about the struggles and changes that we've experienced but I will continue to cheer and hope for the best:) I'm going to miss seeing Deron work his magic as a Jazz man but look forward to a new future team. We shall see....Go Jazz!
SALT LAKE CITY -- After denying early reports that Deron Williams was planning on playing for the New York Knicks for the 2012-13 season, it has been confirmed that the New Jersey Nets have finalized a deal with the Jazz to send the All-Star point guard to the Nets in a multi-player package.
"We feel that we've addressed a current need at point guard with Deron's departure, as well as the future with draft picks and a big man," Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor announced. "To do so we had to give up an All-Star, but we feel like this is a win for both sides."
Favors, a rookie out of Georgia Tech, averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds in 56 games this season with the Nets, while Harris averaged 15 points and 8 assists.
Harris was an all-star reserve in 2009 when he averaged 21 points and seven assists. Harris played collegiately at Wisconsin. He was drafted fifth overall by the Washington Wizards in 2004 and was promptly traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
He spent four years in Dallas before being traded to New Jersey in 2008.
Favors was the third overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft after just one season with Georgia Tech in which he averaged 12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.

Favors was named ACC Rookie of the Year and to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2010.
Williams was averaging 21.3 points and 9.7 assists per game with the Jazz this season. In his six seasons with Utah Williams averaged 17.3 points and 9.1 assists.
The Jazz have also secured a 2011 draft pick from the Nets and the Warriors 2012 pick, which is protected 1-7. If the Jazz don't make the playoffs this year, they will have two lottery picks in the upcoming draft.
This multi-team deal comes one day after Carmelo Anthony was traded from Denver to the New York Knicks in a three-team deal.
It also comes two weeks after Williams was linked with the departure of Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan, who resigned abruptly in his 23rd season as Jazz coach a day after getting into a heated argument with the team captain.

Williams was expected to be one of the headliners of the 2012 free agent class along with 2008 Olympic teammates Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, and the small-market Jazz could have faced losing him for nothing.
The Nets now hope Williams will sign a contract extension with them, which they can offer this summer. If so, he would become the face of their franchise when they move into their new arena in Brooklyn for the 2012-13 season.

The Nets talked with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh last summer and when that failed they turned their attention to Anthony. They quickly bounced back from the disappointment of missing out on him with Williams.
"Utah traded DWill??" fellow point guard Chris Paul wrote on his Twitter page, adding hashtags with "EpicFail" and "notagoodlook."

SALT LAKE CITY -- With the NBA trade deadline quickly approaching, several big names have been thrown out as possible moves, with teams looking to acquire players like Carmelo Anthony to change the face of their organization.
However, no one really believed that they could acquire an all-star point guard from Utah before the deadline drew near.
Early Wednesday morning, the Utah Jazz and the New Jersey Nets agreed to deal all-star point guard Deron Williams to the Nets, with point guard Devin Harris and rookie Derrick Favors to the Jazz.

The bold move on Utah's part came as a shock to the NBA, with a Jazz organization that typically stays out of any big name trade talks. Yet the Jazz took the opportunity to acquire players before potentially losing it all with Williams uncertain about his future in Utah.
"Were we willing to take that risk?" Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said in an afternoon press conference. "Were we willing to go through what Denver went through this year? We would have been if we didn't feel that a deal that would have helped the health of the franchise be in place."
The Nets organization, however, is eager for the opportunity to have Williams as a part of their team.
"Rarely are you able to trade for somebody that is one of the top players at their position," Nets coach Avery Johnson said. "We know we had to give up a lot to get him, but we felt it was worth it."
After losing out to the Knicks on Carmelo Anthony, Nets general manager Billy King said that he tried to throw out Williams' name to O'Connor, doubting that the trade would come to fruition.

"We talked a couple of times yesterday," King said. "And then I guess he visited with his ownership. I visited with mine. And this morning we came to an agreement."
The news broke around 9 a.m. MST, with Williams finding out about the same time.
"We are very excited to add a player the caliber of Deron Williams to our roster," King said. "He is one of the premier point guards in the NBA, and his skill and talent level will bolster our franchise as we continue to build towards our goal of becoming a championship-caliber team."
Nets fans following the acquisition of Williams are encouraged with how their team was able to pick up a big name before the trade deadline closed in.
"Deron Williams can score, pass, and he can play the defensive end of the court, as well," writes user superjohnfan on NJ.com. "If you are building a team, this guy is the real deal. The way this guy can distribute the ball, you do not need superstar scorers; he can get good shots for guys not capable of getting their own shot."
"Tremendous deal for the Nets," writes user mason0424. "This guy is a warrior and one of the top point guards in the game. Not getting Melo turned out to be a blessing in disguise as this guy will have us in the playoffs next year."
However, not all fans are on board with the Williams acquisition. "[T]he guy is a free agent in 2012—if we have no understanding with him about signing long term, it's possible we gave up Harris, Favors and two 1st rounders for nothing," writes NJ.com user pantherbball. "I'm like some others who think that it is way too early to give up on Favors."
Although there is a possibility that Williams may leave the Nets after this season, Billy King believes the risk is worth the possibility.
"I don't look at it as a risk," King said. "I look at it as we can sign him to an extension this summer. And he knows it. We know it. I look at it—I don't think it's a risk. I honestly always felt he was the best point guard in the league, and that's no disrespect to anyone."
The Nets look to make up some ground in the Eastern Conference after a less-than-stellar couple of seasons. With Williams leading the pack, it is possible that this trade may alter the state of the Nets' future for good.
"Deron Williams to the Nets. Great trade for NJ," Magic Johnson tweeted. "That's the face of their franchise."
The Nets will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. ET, just as the trade deadline expires. It will likely be broadcast live online and on YES network.
DALLAS -- It was a word used often hours after the news unfolded, but "shock" might have been an understatement about how the Utah Jazz felt about the franchise's sudden and stunning end of the Deron Williams Era.
In a trade that nobody saw coming, two-time All-Star Williams was shipped off to the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday in exchange for veteran point guard Devin Harris, young power forward Derrick Favors, and two first-round picks (from the Nets in 2011 and the Golden State Warriors in 2012).

The Jazz, according to national reports, will also receive $3 million in cash from the Nets.
"We feel that we've addressed a current need at point guard with Deron's departure, as well as the future with draft picks and a big man," Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said. "To do so we had to give up an All-Star, but we feel like this is a win for both sides."
That part remains to be seen.
"What it boiled down to, for me anyway, was my gut sense of whether we'd be able to re-sign Deron," Jazz CEO Greg Miller said at an afternoon press conference . "And while I never saw any indication that he wouldn't re-sign with us, I never saw any indication he would re-sign with us."
"I think it's a win-win situation," O'Connor said. "New Jersey wanted a marquee player and a star."
Asked why the Jazz made a move in the middle of their season, Miller said that the organization didn't want to end up like Phoenix or Cleveland.
"All those teams lost their marquee players and had very little to show for it," Miller said.
"Were we willing to take that risk?" O'Connor said. "Were we willing to go through what Denver went through this year? And we would have been if we didn't feel that a deal that would have helped the health of the franchise be in place."
The Jazz are still dealing with the aftershock of the biggest trade in franchise history, which comes only two weeks after the sudden resignation of 23-year Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan and longtime assistant Phil Johnson.
Fellow Dallas product C.J. Miles was as dismayed as anyone. The small forward entered the league with Williams in 2005, and the two locker neighbors have formed a strong bond over the years.

Jazz veteran Raja Bell explained that multiple Jazz players, including Williams, were working out in the team hotel gym together when the news flashed on the TV screen. But they laughed about the blurb that rolled across ESPN's Ticker, thinking it was just a rumor.
"I was kind of shocked, a little bit of disbelief as it came across ESPN, just because I was sitting with him in the training room and he didn't know anything about it at the time," Bell said. We kind of chuckled about it, honestly."
Ronnie Price, Paul Millsap and Kyrylo Fesenko were also with the two Jazz guards when the ticker rolled across the screen.
"We kind of had a laugh because those kinds of things come across the ticker all the time," Bell added. "It was obvious at that point that he didn't know. After he made a couple of calls, it was obvious that it was going to go down."
Having been traded a few times during his 11-year career, Bell talked to Williams and offered his verbal support after the news was finalized.

"I told him I know where he's coming from," Bell said. "I know it's a hard pill to swallow. Regardless of what your relationship was with the team or fan base when you get traded, it's still tough."
O'Connor called to inform the Jazz's new coach, Ty Corbin, as the team was getting prepared to leave the hotel for shootaround at American Airlines Arena this morning.
The out-of-the-blue deal happened so quickly, O'Connor told Corbin, because the Nets were looking to do something big after their attempts at acquiring ex-Denver star Carmelo Anthony fell through.
"My initial reaction is that I'm going to miss Deron. He was a good player for us," Corbin said following shootaround. "I've been with him his entire time in the NBA as an assistant coach and now as a head coach for a few games.
"He's a great player and he's a good teammate for the guys, and we're going to miss him," Corbin added. "I wish him well as he moves forward, and we'll have to work our way through it."
Miles and Williams spoke briefly as the team got on the bus, and the Jazz's sixth man said he'll give D-Will a call later today.
"There was no way to forecast that this was going to happen," Bell said.
Williams did not attend the Jazz's shootaround, and according to national reports the two incoming players were informed of the trade at the Nets' shootaround Wednesday morning. It's unknown when Harris and Favors will join the Jazz, who leave for Indianapolis after playing the Mavericks in Dallas tonight.

In Harris, the Jazz are getting a former All-Star point guard who was taken fifth overall in the 2004 draft — the year prior to Williams' draft — by the Washington Wizards. The 28-year-old Wisconsin product averaged 15.0 points and 7.6 assists for the Nets this season.
The 6-3, 190-pound Harris has played for Dallas and the Nets during his seven-year career, averaging 13.2 points, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals.
The 19-year-old Favors, who was the No. 3 overall pick of the 2010 draft, gives the Jazz more depth at the power forward spot. The 6-10, 246-pounder has averaged 6.3 points and 5.3 rebounds his rookie season for the Nets.
The Nets, meanwhile, will get forwards Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric from Golden State in exchange for Troy Murphy.
This deal comes a few days after Yahoo.com reported that a friend of Williams' declared that he would be interested in playing for the New York Knicks when his contract expires after the 2011-12 season. Williams denied the rumor during the All-Star Break.
It also comes two weeks after Williams was linked with the departure of Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan, who resigned abruptly in his 23rd season as Jazz coach a day after getting into a heated argument with the team captain.

SALT LAKE CITY -- So what do Jazz fans think about the Deron Williams trade? Dan Jones and Associates conducted a flash poll for KSL and the Deseret News Wednesday night to find out.
The results show 70 percent of Utahns say the Jazz made the right choice in dealing Deron to the New Jersey Nets, while 17 percent say it wasn't the right choice.
Sixty-one percent say small markets like Utah can compete against larger market teams for star players; 33 percent say the Jazz can't keep star players from heading to brighter lights and bigger cities.
Sixty-four percent of those polled think the Williams trade was related to longtime coach Jerry Sloan's resignation, while 29 percent say it wasn't a factor.
KSL's Rod Zundel talked with Jerry Sloan Wednesday, who was at his farm in southern Illinois. His only comment was, "Go Jazz." CLICK HERE for more results from our poll.

We typically don't do much for Valentine's Day. It usually consists of either dinner out, a movie, a nice dinner at home or a redbox. We usually exchange a small gift and cards and that's about it! It's perfect for us though.
Brock had a business trip to Wisconsin that put him out of town over Valentine's Day this year so we celebrated valentine's Day early. I made Brock a nice candlelit dinner at home (we had all the lights on because it was too dark to see with just the candles...hahah) and then we went to the Hot Springs to soak. It was super relaxed and just our style.
Brock surprised my while he was gone by having some beautiful flowers delivered. ( I don't get flowers very often so it was a nice surprise) There is something about having someone bring flowers to my doorstep that makes me giddy! I love it and I loooove fresh flowers:0)
My favorite flowers are Lilly's, Gerber Daisies and Roses and this bouquet is a beautiful arrangement of all of those flowers.
It was soooo sweet of him to do that!

When we first moved here I used to laugh about the dog population around. EVERYONE seemed to have not just A dog but two HUGE dogs. It was so insane to my brain that I used to count how many people I came across that had two huge dogs....adventually I lost count.
Obviously I am a dog person and I love the critters big or small. For my personal life I prefer the small dog because they are cleaner and easier to take care of (in my opinion).
There are so many dog friendly features in our town that it kinda cracks me up. I decided to put together some of my favorite examples to blog about.
Many check out counters have FREE treats for you take home to your dog. (not your kids) I've seen these at most hardware stores, my bank and Taco Time. (just to name a few).
In one of the public parks there is a doggie drinking fountain hooked to the bottom of the human drinking fountain.
You can find "Dogs Welcome" signs hanging in many business windows.
People don't do a double take if you walk into their shop with your pet.
I was barked at by a Golden Retriever in BOARDERS once.
My Chiropractor was playing fetch with her Yellow Lab while we were visiting about my spine.
They have a Doggie Day Care that will transport your pet by bus and take them on "Outings".
Businesses downtown will put a water dish outside their stores for your pets to quench their thirst.
They have poop bags everywhere to pick up after your pet...and if you don't...you will get the STARE DOWN by onlookers.
